Early in Barnes' career
established science fiction writer Larry Niven was so inspired by Barnes's
raw talent and imagination that he took Barnes under his wing. Soon
they were a writing team: working together to create the ground breaking
work Dream Park, and other novels.
Barnes persuit of his
early passion for writing has led to achievement of many of his greatest
dreams. Steven Barnes is author of the best selling Star Wars book,
The Cestus Deception, for George Lucas and Lucas Film. He
has written Batman comic, worked as a creative consultant on the animation
feature film the Secret of NIMH, written over 20 science fiction novels,
written more than a dozen television episodes, written Saturday morning
cartoon episodes for The Real Ghost Busters, and his curent projects include working with his wife, who is also an
award-winning best-selling author, Tananareve
Due, turning two of her books into major motion pictures.
Their screenplay based on Due's Novel, The Good House, was
purchased by Fox Searchlight Studios. When the couple created their
first novel together, Casanegra, in collaboration with actor
Blair Underwood, Publisher's Weekly called Casanegra, "seamlessly
entertaining." Barnes' next 4 books are already
in process.
A gifted lecturer and
teacher, Barnes' teaching venues include, the Smithsonian
Institution, the Maui Writers Workshop, UCLA, Mensa, Pasadena's Jet
Propulsion Lab, USC, and others. Barnes Hollywood friends, and
business associates include Academy Award Winner Forest Whitaker, George
Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Wesley Snipes, Pamela Anderson, and the list goes
on.
Barnes is an
science-fiction Novelist, television and motion picture screen writer,
martial arts and yoga instructor, and a teaher and lecturer of writing,
story, and fitness. Couple this with Steven
