The Immigrant Garden . . .

Seventeen-year-old Cecily Barnes (ANGELA JOHNSON) is lost.  Trying to come to grips with who she is and what life might be all about for a young woman, coming of age without a mother, in America of the early 1900s, is a daunting task, until Cecily chances upon an old seed catalogue all the way from London, England.  The catalogue's publisher, Mrs. Louise Beauchamp (BEVERLY FITE), provides a gentle heart and sage advice, as the two explore life, love and gardening, through a transatlantic correspondence.  through this series of letters, taking weeks to make their way across a continent and an ocean, Cecily get a glimpse of the mother she never knew.
Part Louisa May Alcott, part Mark Twain, The Immigrant Garden, based on CAROLINE WOOD's AWARD-WINNING off Broadway play, is an AWARD-WINNING motion picture for the whole family.
Produced and directed by Hollywood Executive Producer C. TAD DEVLIN.  Following a string of mega-hits, including: Sleeping With The Enemy (Julia Roberts), When A Man Loves A Woman, (Meg Ryan and Andy Garcia), Disney's Mighty Ducks III (Emilio Estevez), and Disney's George of The Jungle (Brendan Fraser), Devlin moved to a small Pacific-Northwest town that reminded him of his hometown in Ohio.  While teaching classes at the local college, he met Caroline Wood and read her stage play, The Immigrant Garden.  From there, the story is part Bowfinger, part The Producers, and part Shakespeare In Love, culminating in the making of The Immigrant Garden.  Lexington Film was honored to be a part of it all.

The Immigrant Garden previewed for film industry insiders at Disney Studios, in Los Angeles, California, and on the heels of that landmark, took top honors at A.E.C.T. International Film Festival, in Dallas, Texas (one of the largest and oldest festivals of its kind in the world).

And now a word from J. Omar Daggy, of Lexington Film, LLC . . .

We really owe a debt of gratitude to Tad, Angela, Beverly, Caroline, Gregg and all the rest of the cast, crew and investors.  Northwest Film Projects assembled an unbeatable team.  The trust and support they showed us in this, our first feature film, was astonishing.  Sharing the spotlight with Tad, Angela and Caroline at the Disney Studios Hollywood premiere was a great honor and a memory I will always cherish.

We returned from the Hollywood premiere to learn The Immigrant Garden had won the A.C.E.T International Film Festival.  That was icing on the cake.          -- J. Omar Daggy

If Mark Twain had met Louisa Mae Alcott, they might have written The Immigrant Garden."  --  Horace J. Digby, SandBagger Mag-e-zine.
