"musician" Ridley Pearson.  Two of Dave Barry's best-selling novels, Big Trouble  and  Tricky Business have become major motion pictures, with stars like Tim Allen, Rene Russo, Stanley Tucci, Tom Sizemore, Sofia Vergara, Dennis Farina, Janeane Garofalo, Omar Epps.

Dave Barry's syndicated humor column, at one time carried in more than 800 newspapers was the most well received column in journalism history and made Dave so celebrated that a popular CBS television sitcom, Dave's World, starring Harry Anderson, was based on his day-to-day life.

Winner of the coveted Pulitzer Prize, a star of stage, screen, television and print, finalist judge for the Robert Benchley Society Award for Humor (two years running), Dave Barry's other humor books include, Babies and Other Hazards of Sex, Dave Barry Slept Here: A Sort of History of the United States, Dave Barry is from Mars AND Venus, and Dave Barry's Complete Guide to Guys

And this fall, watch for Dave Barry's History of the Millennium (So Far), published by Putnam Books, and his newest book with Ridley Pearson, Peter and the Secret of Rundoon, published by Disney-Hyperion Books.

Dave is also a member of the world's most significant garage band, The Rock Bottom Remainders, composed entirely of leading authors, includes Stephen King, Amy Tan, Dave Barry, Ridley Pearson, Roger McGuinn, Frank McCourt, Scott Turow, Matt Groening, Roy Bount, Jr., Greg Iles, Mitch Albom and occasionally Digby's pal Tananarive Due.  Digby himself is negotiating with Ridley Pearson for a chance to sit in on bass guitar.  The Remainders play for charity fundraisers and for the fun of it.  As Amy Tan said, "I would do this to kill the whales."  Or as Dave Barry puts it, "we play music about as well as Metalica writes novels.  Actually we believe Metalica writes novels better than we play music."

Their current tour is called, "Still Younger Than Keith," although Barry denies knowing why.   For that matter he is also confused about why they call it a tour when they are only doing one show.
Digby:    "Dave these titles are amazing.  How do you come up with such great titles like, 'Dave Barry turns 40,' and 'Dave Barry turns 50?.'"

Barry:    "It took years to come up with them.  And then we had to hire mathematics experts to make I had my age right."
In Dave Barry's Money Secrets Dave warns readers not to be too trusting when it comes to financial opportunities.
Digby:  "So Dave, are you telling me that some people are too trusting when it comes to finances?"

Barry:  "Right Horace.  When a Nigerian business man wrote me a letter offering to send me 93 million dollars, all my friends told me, 'Don't do it Dave, it's a scam.'  And then when he wanted me to send him $3,000 for his shipping costs, my friends all said, 'he's ripping you off Dave.'"

Digby:  "But you didn't listen to your friend's warnings?"

Barry:  "And if I had trusted my friends, and listened to their warnings, I wouldn't have sent that #3,000 to Nigeria, and as a result, I wouldn't have received the 93 million dollars about a week later.  Which just goes to show, you don't want to be too trusting when it comes to your money."
